Mike Enslin (John Cusack) is a writer who specializes in paranormal activities. He decides to travel from Los Angeles to New York and checks into the mysterious room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel. The room was permanently unavailable to guests but he convinced Mr. Gerald Olin (Samuel L. Jackson) to give him the key. Mike Enslin discovers that guests can check in the room but they might never leave.
